Redruth is a small commercial town, with a population recorded in of 12, It is twinned with Plumergat  and Meriadec in Brittany, France and Mineral Point, Wisconsin in the USA, where Cornish immigrants built many of the stone buildings still standing. A museum organised by the Old Cornwall Society  is housed in the Town Council office at the bottom of the main grid reference: SW Agar Road, Redruth Bank 3.
Once the urban centre of the Cornish Mining industry, Redruth is now at the heart of the World Heritage Site. The Parish Church, St Euny, is located in the oldest part of the town, and can be accessed by a pleasant walk from the town centre along Church Lane, taking in the newly renovated Fairfield – home of Redruth's Plen-an-Gwari, an atmospheric and traditional Cornish open air theatre. Performances of Celtic plays, Shakespeare, poetry and many other acts are performed here throughout the year.
Town Trails There are three trails in which you can discover the stories locked up in the impressive architecture throughout the town. Firstly, the Town Trail delves into the important buildings in the town centre that placed Redruth at the Heart of the Cornish Mining industry, and now at the centre of the World Heritage Site. As you are aware Redruth Library & Information Service are relocating this spring. We will then be closed for two weeks to move the Library, Tourist Information Centre and the Redruth Town Council offices in to the new Redruth Civic Centre where you will be able to enjoy our wonderful library and information service 6 days a week.

Latest News. REDRUTH TOWN COUNCIL IS MOVING. The Town Council offices on Penryn Street and Redruth Library & Information Service on Clinton Road will both be closed from Monday 16th March.
Both services will reopen in their new location in the Redruth Civic Centre in Alma Place (former Cornish Studies Library) as soon as the government guidelines allow us to do so.
Cornwall Council continues to support the Town Council to deliver the local service. Redruth Library and Information Service customers are still members of the Cornwall Library and Information Service and are able to borrow from Cornwall County's wide stock of books, CD’s and DVD’s, as well as having access to online newspapers, e-magazines.
